A beer house since 1853 and acquired by Young & Bainbridge in 1860, this distinctive building was originally known as The Wheatsheaf, becoming Shaftesbury Arms in 1878. The building was rebuilt in 1899 in an eclectic late Victorian style. The original two bars were merged into one in 1988 with the addition of a restaurant area in 2001.
